Top Ten Tuesday #15

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2012

1. Genevieve Graham

Genevieve Graham

I still have to read her first book in the The MacDonnells Series which is titled Under the Same Sky but I was lucky enough to participate in her blog tour for the second novel in the series Sound of the Heart and I loved it. I think she's an amazingly talented writer and shes a fellow Canadian and Torontonian (though she's no longer residing in the city) to boot.
She is AWESOME!

2. Kimberley Freeman pen name for Kim Wilkins

Kimberley Freeman
I've only read one of her books so far and that was titled Wildflower Hill. I absolutely loved this novel, it is one of the most emotionally written novels I've ever read. I highly recommend it to everyone.

3. Danica Winters

Danica Winters

I first read one of Danica's books for a blog tour and loved it, later on I was approached by her to review another of her works and loved that too. I think she's a great new author and she's super nice!

4. Sylvia Day

Sylvia Day

I'd heard a lot about Sylvia Day for a long time before I actually picked up one of her books. My first read by her was Seven Years to Sin and I loved it so much! Afterwards I read the first two novels in the Crossfire Series and loved them too. I think it takes a lot of talent to write historical and contemporary romance. I absolutely adore her writing!

5. Elizabeth Fama

Elizabeth Fama

Elizabeth Fama became an instant favourite author of mine as soon as I picked up her book Monstrous Beauty. I'm not really a fan of the mermaid theme in YA fiction but this is a prime example of an author doing it right. Infact this is one of my favourite books of 2012, I hope she continues writing because I'm hooked!

6. Larissa Ione

Larissa Ione
I'd had my eye on her Lords of Deliverance Series for over a year before I started it and I am so mad at myself for not reading it sooner. I love the romances she writes surrounding the Lords of Deliverance, there's loads of action in them and I think they rival the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward she's that good. Seriously.

7. Victoria Roberts

Victoria Roberts

I absolutely loved her novel Temptation in a Kilt (Bad Boys of the Highlands #1 because she wrote a great historical romance that was CLEAN that I was actually able to enjoy and love. Usually I'm not one for romances with a clean rating but she wrote a great love story and I can't wait to read book two.

8. Rachael Pruitt

Rachael Pruitt

I first discovered Rachael by reading a review on a blog I used to follow and after commenting on the bloggers review Rachael contacted me to see if I would be willing to review her novel The Dragon's Harp (Era Of Dragons: The Lost Tales Of Gwenhwyfar) which is the story of King Arthur but told from Gwenhwyfar's POV. I have never, I repeat NEVER read a historical/fantasy mix as wonderful as this one and this is one of my top 30 favourite books of all time and a favourite book of 2012. I highly recommend checking her book out.

9. Tabitha Suzuma

 Tabitha Suzuma

I loved Tabitha Suzuma's novel Forbidden when I read it earlier this year even though it does deal with a very taboo subject but her writing was examplery and I can't get enough of her writing. I think she's a brave author for tackling the subject she did and I hope she writes a ton more books.

10. Karin Altenberg

Karin Altenberg

I loved Karin Altenbergs debut historical novel Island of Wings so much I that when I was finished reading it I was recommending it to everyone I knew. She has a marvelous ability to write emotionally driven characters and to create a lot of detail. This book was so moving that at times when the main character was ging through certain events I felt as though my heart was breaking for her.
Unfortunately Karin has no Twitter, Facebook, Author page on Goodreads or Website.

  2. Awe, I wish I had included Elizabet Fama. Monstrous Beauty will continue on as one of my favorite reads.

And also: Tabitha Suzuma <3 Forbidden had me in tears. Definitely not an easy subject to write about, especially in YA, but she pulled it off beautifully.
